AI can write most of the code. To create enterprise-grade software solutions with AI, we need to design a AI-native software engineering process.
My team and I are currently working on industrializing software engineering and finding an answer to "What would it take for you to be comfortable shipping software without you reading and understanding every line of code?"
About
I'm CTO at Adnovum in Zurich and a member of the Leadership Team. We build software for financial services, public sector, and transportation — places where getting it wrong has consequences.
My current focus is rebuilding how we engineer software for the AI era — where agents do most of the building, and the discipline shifts from writing code to directing and verifying it. I made that bet structural: in January 2026 I launched the CTO Office, a focused 8-person strategic team distilled from a former 20–30 person unit. A deliberate bet on impact over scale.
Before becoming CTO, I led Adnovum's HR globally for four years. That shaped how I think about technology leadership. The scarce resource in a technology organization is rarely tools, capital, or even talent — it's alignment, trust, and the willingness to hire people better than yourself.
I joined Adnovum in 2013 as a Senior Software Architect, became Global Head of HR in 2016, and was appointed CTO in 2020. I hold a doctorate from the University of Zurich, where my dissertation received the university's annual award. Beyond Adnovum, I'm a board member of CHOOSE (Swiss Informatics Society) and active in swissICT.
A line I come back to: "Everybody said it was not possible. Then someone came who didn't know that, and just did it."
What I think about
AI & Software Engineering
AI doesn't make engineering less important. It makes it more important than ever. Writing code was never the bottleneck. Judgment is. So is architecting for digital sovereignty.
Leadership & Culture
Leadership is elevating others to be their best. My job is energy, purpose, and direction. Then getting out of the way so people can surprise me.
Talent & the Future of Engineering Work
I spent four years as Head of HR before becoming CTO. That double-hat keeps pulling me to one question: what happens to engineering careers when agents write the code? My answer: we need juniors more than ever, not less.
Speaking & Media
I speak and write regularly on AI, software engineering, and technology leadership.
